Corona Exit and Scotland

I would not want to be on the think tank or committee that recommends the lockdown exit strategy nor the PM who agrees then announces it.

Fallible human beings dealing with incomplete information (obtained from China) are bound to make mistakes, we have already seen this. Governments will inevitably either overreact or under-reacted. Suggest the latter people scream out. Suggest the former and the sky falls in. Such is human psychology. Yet every effort must be made to make the correct judgments and decisions, weigh up the potential loss of lives compared to the harm done to the future spendings on the NHS due to austerity measures if the economy shrinks further which will mean less care equaling also the potential loss of lives in the future... it’s a balance and a hell of an equation to figure out.

The one thing which is for sure is that politics should not influence the outcome under any circumstances.

Now it’s my understanding that the UK is following the science recommendations regarding lockdown exit strategy whereas Sturgeon is looking at it through a constitutional prism, the last person she choose to give advice to the nation was a gynaecologist and that never worked out well.
Now if Scotland is taking scientific advise to follow a separate policy than England then fair enough but if not then there is a very simple way to bring  sturgeon into line on UK lockdown exit strategy.
Just tell her for every day she extends lockdown beyond the rest of the UK she takes over picking up the tab for all the UK provided benefits. The climbdown will be rapid.

I am sure diehard Nationalists will pump their gums at such a suggestion but they should always remember  that independent Scotland would have been sunk without trace with the double whammy of covid19 and the collapsing oil price.
