Presumed GUILTY...the online trial of Cummings

Unless you live in a cave (in which case well done you, you have embraced the lockdown and have taken isolation to a new level) you will know about Boris Johnson’s chief aide Dominic Cummings who drove 260 miles from his London home to his parents' estate in County Durham at the height of restrictions in March. His reason being he was taking his vulnerable 4 year old son to he looked after there by his family as he feared he and his wife would soon be incapacitated with the Corona virus (having worked close proximity to Boris around the time he tested positive the likelihood Cummings would have it too was very high)

So now many are screaming for the sacking of Dominic Cummings (also in effect supporting a mad Maoist intrusive regulation of personal lives, by howling for its enforcement and encourage the activities of informers and who think it right to denounce neighbours to the police but let’s overlook that part)

What I do find it fascinating that there are so many people on social media appear to be budding amateur Atticus Finches (as in To Kill a Mockingbird) or legal experts for the “Facebook” prosecution but let’s have a wee look at the facts firstly in law....

The actual Government regulations for Isolation.

Under reg. 6(1) to leave the house whenever we had a “reasonable excuse”

Now check out 6(2), in specific (d) “to provide care and assistance to a vulnerable person”  (in Cumming’s case ...his 4 year old child)

Now the law often prioritises the needs of children so let’s also have a wee look at 6(2)(j) which allows a child from separated households to travel between them.

Now let’s also seek a little clarification from the Governments public statements as It is true to note the deputy chief medical officer on 24 March was asked a question relating to small children and answered “clearly if you have adults unable to look after a small child, that is an exceptional circumstance.”

What I would certainly call an “exception circumstance”  would be two parents leaving their home with a vulnerable young child to get childcare in the likelihood of both parents being ill with the virus (which went on to hospitalise the boss of the man in question, Boris)

Now as for Moral reasons.....

Protecting one’s family is what any good parent does. and as such it is wholly appropriate under the guideline to do so so is lawful but morally if I was in the same circumstances with my child being 4 years old and with concerns for his care and health ... well firstly I would not hesitate braking any laws (in his case Cummings did not) and if any  one flicked their noses at my decision to put my child first or this there followed a orgy of online prurience my response would be “go fuck yourself”  but hey ... I’m old fashioned that way thinking that the heath of a small child is more important than what the curtain twitchers and self-appointed morality police think.

So what’s people’s faux fury at this?

Well with the Scottish nationalists it’s clear.... they will use the comparison of Nicola Sturgeon’s Chief Medical Officer who was found to have breached guidelines by nipping off to her holiday home in Fife, twice. So going to your holiday home is comparable with taking a 4 year old child to safety .... awww you caring tartan clad blue faced bunch.

Or perhaps you have the “Tory hatred fury” in you (very prominent with the above group)....a cure to this sickness would be two servings of “educate yourself”, I prescribe my blog entry “Why I will be voting Conservative 2019” from 28th November 2019

Or perhaps you are just looking for opportunity to punish Cummings for leading the campaign in 2016 that the majority of the British people supported and democratically voted for.

Personally I was a remainer and Cummings pissed me off immensely but what pisses me off now is this politically driven witch-hunt and hatred of a man’s action to do what is best in the interests of the health of his 4 year old child.

Sturgeon the Reaper

Well done Nicola Sturgeon 👏
... you have at last defined Scotland from the rest of the UK
By calculating deaths per million in Scotland from the Corona virus Scotland are close to the equivalent of England, Wales and NI combined and the third worst in Europe.
So how will you spin this one out? Oh yes, what faux outrage towards Dominic Cummings... perhaps some cries of “Toaries” and “Worstmonster” ... keep deflecting from the facts that health is devolved in Scotland and also almost half these deaths are in the care homes you punted the elderly out from hospitals to before attempting any testing during the first “official” confirmation of an outbreak (be cause you kept quiet about the initial outbreak in Edinburgh 6 days before Edinburgh was flooded with 85 thousand rugby fans)

Respect to you Nicola Sturgeon ..... you really are The Death Bringer...this is Old Testament stuff ... will we who slaughter a lamb and make a sign with YES written about our doors be spared from this plague?

A Third before a Second

Woke up the morning and read a headline in the Newspaper claiming “ Nicola Sturgeon’s refusal to rule out THIRD independence vote if she loses again exposed”

then goes on to say
“NICOLA STURGEON refused to rule out trying for a third independence referendum within a short period if she lost her planned second vote, unearthed reports reveal”

Almost choked on my cappuccino!! Froth formed expletive exploded henceforth as did the need of another blog rant.

Considering how Nicola Sturgeon is making Scotland ever more impoverished and dependent on British money its crazy to think she is preparing for another attempt to break up the UK! (this after a second vote if she fails, a second Scottish Independence referendum that has not even been authorised so this is jumping the gun a wee bit)

It does make me curious what their (SNP) white paper perspectives for a third attempt would be... a Jurassic park styled unicorn (that shit gold) ranch perhaps and money trees and export of tartan paint .... who knows?

In preparation for the 2014 independence referendum the SNP had written a plan for independence that they released in 2013 called “The White Paper” which made all sorts of claims that nowadays appear ludicrous such as that there would be a currency union with the former UK and that every Scot would be hundreds of pounds a year better off because we’d have all the oil and it could just not be comfortably sitting at over $100 a barrel.. cough cough...Even the writers/ researchers of the then prospective for Scottish independence confirmed it was lies and false promises using cherry picked horizons from past GERs reports from when once upon a time oil in the North Sea was worth more than the extraction costs. The respected Financial Times even did an article a couple of years ago saying how if the vote for Scottish Independence was won in 2014 we  (Scotland) would have since been a bankrupt nation.

Next...and certainly not a generation later the Nationalist are thumping the tartan tambourine again with their demands to split from the rest of the uk and produce another perspective to use on their Braveheart fans so in 2018 the SNP came up  “Scotland: the new case for optimism” written by the Sustainable Growth Commission... hohoho ...In some ways it was commendable in parts for its honesty.... but don’t hold your breath here it came with plenty dishonesty too...It did recognised that Scottish independence would require some difficult economic choices and that there would be a degree of austerity for the first decade or so after independence (this was its very optimistic part) yet it overlooked (more likely ignored on purpose) the austerity which the EU would apply to Scotland to reduce its deficit as an independent Nation.
Neither in its (mis)calculations will it have the new facts about the money (billions) which has recently came up from our friends down south of the border to pay for the Corona Furlough scheme which is estimated to have saved 374,000 jobs in Scotland. (Bookmark that for the next time a nationalist asks what the benefits of Union are)

There are also plenty recent food for thought about the Sturgeon SNP admission in Scotland during the Corona crisis up here (well I say “food for thought” but if intelligence was snacks for the brain many nationalist would have had hollow head starvation by now)
Scotland is more sparsely populated compared to most of Europe. We don’t have an international airport hub and we don’t get that many tourists in the Winter and Spring because of our weather. Yet in terms of Covid cases per 100,000 people Scotland is doing rather worse than England.
Also about The Nike conference in Edinburgh in February? at its very best shows incompetence or at its worst shows a cover up... By Sturgeon’s own admission (The Herald) on the 2nd of March she was aware of the Corona virus outbreak in
Edinburgh during the end of February but she kept quiet about it but all likelihood she knew before then.
On Saturday the 8th of March over 80’000 rugby fans, many from France visited Edinburgh when France played Scotland, Murrayfield stadium was full to its capacity if 65000 fans tightly packed together.
Could she cancelled the Rugby, made a public announcement so people would be aware of the risks going into Edinburgh? Of course she could have! Did she? NO! She kept quiet!

Almost half the Corona deaths in Scotland are in Care homes (compared to about a quarter in England) PPI and there was no testing for front line workers and vulnerable in these Scottish care homes!

The unarguable (unless you are a nationalist that is) fact is that an independent Scotland would have been sunk without trace with the double whammy of the Corona crisis and the collapsed oil price.
Yes voters should be thanking No voters for saving them from a financial calamity (not abusing and threatening them on social media)

Disgracefully Sturgeon continues to look at the Corona crisis through a constitutional prism to apply policies in the attempt to show Scotland as a separation country to the rest of the UK and people are dying as a result!

It’s also a disgrace that the people who vote SNP during election time seem to overlook or ignore the SNPs performance on health, education and the economy, they continue to swallow their lies and rhetoric praising them.... I shake my head at this stupidity, you sense it immediately if you try and engage in any sort of debate about the Scottish economy, their arguments soon fall flat then it’s conspiracy theories (e.g hidden oil fields and Crone reports) or just plain anglophobia.

I have said it before and I will say it again, it’s not better politicians we need, it’s a better electorate ... I dread the damage the SNP will continue to do to Scotland and God help us all if independence ever was to happen!

Out or In..a Divided Nation

We are receiving two different messages in the UK just now from the powers that be... Boris is staying those who can’t work from home should attempt to get back to work (to help keeping the economy ticking) although with certain precautions, Sturgeon, first minister in Scotland is telling everyone to stay locked up.
The rationale for the lockdown was to flatten the curve to prevent the NHS from being overwhelmed.
Given that ICUs are half empty and temporary hospitals have been mothballed due to not being used should the lockdown not be relaxed slightly? Getting some people back to work, for example those who can’t work from home such as builders and construction does make sense. It is a balancing act,  we can’t afford the economy to die as these we will have an austerity driven poverty which will cause more deaths.. a case of the cure being worst than the disease.
Of course Sturgeon has taken a wee giddy hissy fit and gives out a different message to Boris. She may talk a good game at the podium but tell us what has she really done? Doesn’t know even what the ‘r’ number is. Care Home directive sent out in error. PPI and testing for front line workers and vulnerable in Care Homes are a disgrace.
Remember Scotland has the highest drugs related deaths and lowest life expectancy in Europe, who will suffer most if the economy dies and forced austerity kicks in?
As I have said, it’s a very fine balancing act, a flare up is inevitable until we have a vaccine and we cannot stay locked down until we have a vaccine ... it could be years ...we can’t afford such an impact on the economy as with no workers no tax no money getting into the NHS so then cut backs and then the most vulnerable will suffer, cancer and heart disease does not pause because we stay at home!
So, coming back to it, the point of the lockdown was to prevent the NHS being overwhelmed. A flare up would not overwhelm it given the build up in capacity. Of course people will die, this is an unavoidable tragedy, I don’t want to sound cold but we need to look at the bigger picture and think about the lesser of two evils ... no economy no money cut backs for cancer suffers, neo natal words trauma units etc ....will Scotland stay entirely locked up whilst England goes back to work and and pays taxes so Westminster can continue to pay 75% of the self-employees wages  of up in Scotland (well paying the Scottish Government the money which apparent does not appear to be all given out to the people who need it) That will certainly create the division Sturgeon wants.
Just remember that if we (Scotland) broke from the rest of the UK in 2014 we would have been sunk without trace with the double whammy of covid19 and the collapsing oil price... don’t allow Sturgeon to play separation politics during this pandemic.
It is untenable that the Treasury pays the wages of Scots and bails out Scottish businesses while English people go to work and Scots don't. Everyone in Britain is benefiting from the Chancellor keeping us going financially. There needs to be a shared risk too.
Consider this for a moment.. (what I read written by someone else)  “English soldiers took part in D Day because a previous incarnation of Nicola Sturgeon thought it was too dangerous for Scots to take part” .... how would that go down?  We reap the benefits but don’t take the risks?  Are we really like that?

Corona Exit and Scotland

I would not want to be on the think tank or committee that recommends the lockdown exit strategy nor the PM who agrees then announces it.

Fallible human beings dealing with incomplete information (obtained from China) are bound to make mistakes, we have already seen this. Governments will inevitably either overreact or under-reacted. Suggest the latter people scream out. Suggest the former and the sky falls in. Such is human psychology. Yet every effort must be made to make the correct judgments and decisions, weigh up the potential loss of lives compared to the harm done to the future spendings on the NHS due to austerity measures if the economy shrinks further which will mean less care equaling also the potential loss of lives in the future... it’s a balance and a hell of an equation to figure out.

The one thing which is for sure is that politics should not influence the outcome under any circumstances.

Now it’s my understanding that the UK is following the science recommendations regarding lockdown exit strategy whereas Sturgeon is looking at it through a constitutional prism, the last person she choose to give advice to the nation was a gynaecologist and that never worked out well.
Now if Scotland is taking scientific advise to follow a separate policy than England then fair enough but if not then there is a very simple way to bring  sturgeon into line on UK lockdown exit strategy.
Just tell her for every day she extends lockdown beyond the rest of the UK she takes over picking up the tab for all the UK provided benefits. The climbdown will be rapid.

I am sure diehard Nationalists will pump their gums at such a suggestion but they should always remember  that independent Scotland would have been sunk without trace with the double whammy of covid19 and the collapsing oil price.

Another Export from China (Corona)

The Chinese Communist Party waited nearly a week before revealing the emergence of a new strain of coronavirus, gave false information to the world health organisation (WHO) by claiming it was not transferable from Human to Human (when they knew fine well it was), deliberately under-reported infection rates, their police rounded up doctors who attempted to get the truth out, and obstructed international research into the pandemic.

Since then it has pursued a campaign of misinformation about the origins of the virus, taunted the United States government, and even threatened Australia with a boycott after the their government backed calls for an independent inquiry.

The initial case was recorded in Wuhan 17 November.. 266 cases by December there. China downplayed it and threatened any doctors speaking out with arrest, the main dctors were summoned by the Chinese authorities on sign a non-disclosure on fear of arrest. China could have went into lockdown a lot sooner but instead choose to hid the facts and it’s been confirmed during this period infected people were flying out from China to other world destinations.*

The DHS (US department of Homeland security) are saying they have found out that China “stockpiled medical supplies... before its official notification to WHO that COVID-19 was contagious" and drastically decreased medical exports & increased medical imports while covering up the coronavirus.*

*(my references and sources at foot of this post)

Strategically speaking China is looking to come out the best in a post-Corona virus world (there is are some theories, which I not fully believe at this point, that they may have even released it on purpose which if this was the case then it’s their biggest coup since Troy opened its gates and said “what a lovely big wooden horse”)

I have been recently reading about The Belt and Road Initiative which is a global development strategy adopted by the Chinese government in 2013 involving infrastructure development and investments in nearly 70 countries and international organizations in Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Within this program China provided loans to developing nations with mines & ports as collateral.

Now Covid19 will hinder those nations ability to repay the debt so then China will seize mines & ports globally in lieu of payment.

These mines & ports also serve as strategic military assets. So with this is mind, it would certainly look as if when the world economy crashes China will have the most to gain and as such has won a “cold war” without a bullet being fired .... just by opening (either by accident or on pupose) a Pandora’s box then cashing it’s chips in on a pre-played game of monopoly!

Kudos for for the German Newpaper "Bild" who have shown more balls than our UK government so far for calling out China, they basically summed up China and its involvement perfectly.

First they published an editorial entitled 'What China owes us', calling for China to pay reparations of £130 billion for the damage done by the outbreak of the virus. The Chinese embasy in Berlin replied with an open letter "‘we regard the style in which you 'campaign' against China in your current report on page two as infamous... Those who do the same as you do with today's Bild newspaper fuel nationalism, prejudice and xenophobia"....then the newspaper Bild went in for the kill by replying ....

“You shut down every newspaper and website that is critical of your rule, but not the stalls where bat soup is sold. You are not only monitoring your people, you are endangering them – and with them, the rest of the world...China enriches itself with the inventions of others, instead of inventing on its own. The reason China does not innovate and invent is that you don't let the young people in your country think freely. China’s greatest export hit (that nobody wanted to have, but which has nevertheless gone around the world) is Corona"

 ...then goes on to say...

"Would you like to explain this to the grieving widows, daughters, sons, husbands, parents of Corona victims all over the world?"

"Your embassy tells me that I am not living up to the "traditional friendship of our peoples.” I suppose you consider it a great "friendship" when you now generously send masks around the world. This isn’t friendship, I would call it imperialism hidden behind a smile – a Trojan Horse."

"You plan to strengthen China through a plague that you exported. You will not succeed. Corona will be your political end, sooner or later."

....Bild pulls no punches or hides behind any dipolmacy!!

If appears very difficult to punish the Xi regime without harming the Chinese people and like all communist regime, unfortunately its likely that the people it lords over will suffer the consequences. As China is one of the permanent 5 UN countries they will most certainly veto any proposal put down via the UN. Any thing Trump asked for in America will surely be voted down by the Democrats in Congress (basically because he is Trump) and I can’t see the UK growing balls anytime soon as we have already pandered to them with 5G (China actually once said they would apply trade sanctions on us if we never used them for the 5G uk network) and looks like the whole world has ignored the plight of the 1 million Chinese Uyghurs Muslims locked away in gulag style prison camps in China (despite them lying to the world saying it was not so) Surely it can’t be “business as usual” with China once this crisis is over.

How do you punish a regime which does now have the same moralities as us, and remember, its the regime that we need to punish and not the people, they live under the oppressive regime and are daily victims of it.

The Communist China regime (CCP) never accepts or apologise when they are in the wrong. Chinese morality is based on something called Miànzi which is usually translated as face. We don’t really have this concept in the West as such, it’s a pride thing about losing face, they will do all they can to cover up their mistakes or crimes if discovered which looks like what they are doing (have done) recently with the corona outbreak.

So…hit them where it hurts…their pride!

Cancel the Huawei deal first….that’s a no brainer…don’t use them for the UK’s 5G network.

You may be aware that China have over a million Uyghurs Chinese Muslims locked up in what they call “re-education camps” ..but are in effect concentration camp……well lets champion the Uyghurs at every opportunity and start by re-naming the London street that houses the Chinese embassy after a Uyghur political prisoner, a few statues of these Uyghurs outside the Chinese Embassy would be an idea too.

Next…lets recognise Taiwan as an independent nation, and also lets help Hong Kong by granting British citizenship to Hong Kongers born before 1 July 1997, their children and grandchildren. Even if just a fraction of Hong Kong’s residents took up the opportunity, everyone would be a small humiliation for the dictatorship (these ideas are from Stephen Daisley, a writer from the Spectator, so I can’t take credit for them but I endorse them fully)…

We really do need to rethink of our relationship with the People’s Republic of China, we have turned a blind eye to their human rights abuses far too long so we can keep getting keep getting cheap stuff but we should now start paying attention and act more morally and ethically to what is happening, I know we can’t hope to cease all trade as it would be too costly, at the moment China is our second largest trading partner but we really should try and drop it down a few rings of the ladder over the next few years and stop being so reliant upon it.

* I used the Nervtag minutes from their meeting a in January which are publish in there entirely online and also the reputable Henry Jackson Society report April 2020 which covers China’s involvement and references where they get their findings

* also read the 5 Eyes intelligence Report (The Five Eyes (FVEY) is a intelligence alliance comprising Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Scotland's Shame

Scottish Independence is dead in the water, it’s time for everyone to wake up and put a stop to Sturgeon’s harpy rasping about it which can only now be used as a smokescreen to keep the focus away from her party’s mismanagement of Scotland for over the past decade and also she will continue to thump that tartan tambourine in the attempt to keep the Nationalists voting for her in misguided belief that the Shortbread Senate can still snip its ties with the rest of the UK and live in a Braveheart utopia where the rivers run whisky and little kilt wearing haggis scoot merrily around heather clad Ochil hills under permanent sunshine and blue sky with saltire shaped clouds, oh, and not to forget oil selling for over $100 a barrel…. All a tartan fantasy akin more to Willie Wonka than William Wallace.

If Scotland had been independent in 2008, it would have been unable to bail out the Scottish banks.

Remember the promises of the White Paper? The SNP promises in 2014 turned out to be not worth the paper they were written on. Have a look at the oil process now! It matters little if it’s Scotland’s oil or not as the cost of extracting it is likely to remain higher than it is worth.

If Scotland had become independent in 2014, it would be unable now to bail out the Scottish economy troubles we are sure to face once this Lock Down has ended. Remember leading up to the referendum in 2014 the SNP’s position was it would continue using the pound which would mean Scotland would be separate from the rest of the UK but still relying upon the rest of the UK to be it’s central back controlling its currency so under the current Corona Virus crisis who would have bailed out Scotland by giving its businesses money? The British treasury would have no obligation to lend anything to businesses in Scotland.

Now Rishi Sunak has put the vinegar stroke to end any hopes there could possibly be left for Scottish nationalism. A huge number of Scottish businesses and individuals are going to have to accept large loans from the British Treasury. Scotland may not be able to pay off these debts for many years. But if Scotland decided to become independent the question of debt would be of huge importance for any divorce settlement with the rest of the UK. Each of us here is Scotland has a share of Britain’s national debt which is just going to increase by an enormous amount. Plus, many of us will have mortgages and now with Corona debts which all will be denominated in Pounds Sterling. Just as Greece could not leave the Eurozone without defaulting, so too Scotland could not leave the Poundzone without defaulting.

But we know the Nationalists will still be pumping their gums about wanting Scottish Independent.  There groups on social media supporting Scottish Indy are still peddling their fact news but unable to provide any facts or evidence. One of my fav Indy Sheep literature sites is the ironically names “I Was One of The 1,617,989 Proud Scots” meaning they voted YES for Scottish independence in 2014 but what exactly are they proud of? Are they proud at we would be a bankrupt nation by now if the Yes vote succeeded in 2014? More people here in Scotland would be dying, businesses would be closing and we would have someone in power basically like a president of Scotland who by his own admission in court (when faced with rape and multiple sexual assault charges) used Bute House (Scotland’s equivalent of Downing street) to try to seduce woman working under him. (The fact Alex Salmond was found innocent of these rape and sexual charges are questionable in many opinions especially considering how many victims came forward)  is all this something to be proud of as being a member of this Facebook community would suggest?

There is also secrecy at the heart of the Scottish Government. SNP politicians and even ordinary members are told that they may not voice any criticism of the SNP. For the most part they don’t need to be told this. They would not criticise it anyway. It’s the fan with the voters of this vile party, its like they are blind to the harm over the past decade that the SNP have done to our country (or the fact that the party their support were siding with the Nazis during the second world war) and it you attempt to debate with them soon you will realise they have no grasp of the economy and only have provide lies of ill thought out theories) Some even unfriend me on social media rather than to debate ….that is how strong their conviction is…non-existent and living in a fantasy.

The SNP is a single-issue party that doesn’t really care about anything other than Scottish independence, they choose politicians because of loyalty and devotion to this cause and they also choose everything else on this basis to Scotland’s detriment.

The first instinct of the SNP is to blame someone else for everything that goes wrong in Scotland. The SNP and their supporters universally fail to take responsibility for anything. When something goes wrong, they are inclined to first bury it, second keep silent about it and if that doesn’t work blame Westminster…..it’s in their DNA to do this.

This happened recently when Sturgeon’s insistence on giving Catherine Calderwood the role of being Scotland’s Chief Medical Officer during this pandemic instead of a much more qualified epidemiologist Professor Hugh Pennington who is a emeritus professor of bacteriology at the University of Aberdeen worked out well did it not?

She chose a gynaecologist without a scientific background who supports Scottish Independence over an expert in viruses as he is a vocal critic of the SNP.

So now Catherine Calderwood, who has been travelling to visiting her second home twice with her family then going to the beach together with their dogs despite giving the Nation advice about staying at home has had to quit the role .... Always important to get the right person for the job Nicola isn’t it?

Nicola Sturgeon once said “Judge me on my education record” so how exactly are we to do that now I wonder as the SNP have delayed the publication of the Education Review until after June 2021, a review they were forced to conduct by the opposition parties, the results of which now will not be made public until at least a month after the Scottish elections in May in which they are looking to get re-elected.

I know things are a bit upside down just now due to the pandemic but to publish such a report online does not take much resource, especially since Sturgeon also once said that Education was her priority..... Apparently not!

I really wish people would wake up to this shower of idiots and use democracy to get them out of power then save Scotland from the disaster which is the SNP and their obsession with independence.
