Monkey Dust (DVD)

Monkey Dust is a British satirical cartoon, notorious for its dark humour and handling of taboo topics. There were three series broadcast on BBC Three between 2003 and 2005. I purchased series one from ebay for a couple of quid second hand.

On 8 November 2004, the first series of Monkey Dust was released in the UK on DVD. Several musical substitutions had to be made from the television airing, as artists such as Cliff Richard and David Gray would not allow their work to be used on the DVD. Cover versions of the original songs were used instead. The second and third series were broadcast on BBC Two and BBC Three respectively. Only the first series of Monkey Dust was commercially released on DVD, however, in September 2009 eight episodes from across series 2 and 3 (along with four episodes from the already released series 1) were made available for download from iTunes. At the moment, all that is available of the three "Monkey Dust" series is this first volume, with "no immediate plans to clear and release further series on DVD," according to an e-mail sent to me by DVD publishers 2entertain when I enquired about the possibility of completing the collection. So Itunes (or youtubing we go) if you want to see series 2 & 3…but start off at series 1 cause this may not peel your banana if you are easily offended!!
Clive returning home

This show is not for the faint of heart! No, really: it's edgier and more pointed than a shuriken, sharper than a scalpel, and potentially more offensive than the smell of a roadkill skunk in high summer. When one of the more sympathetic characters is a serial killer who's released after 27 years (only, he never done it; he only said he done it so they'd give him his fingernails back), you have to wonder what possessed the BBC to release this series. I'll tell you what: it's laugh-out-loud FUNNY, is what. Taking a skewed, extremely dark, and unnervingly prescient look at Broken Britain years before it had even been given that name, "Monkey Dust" looks at all that is wrong in our society and pummels it with merciless, unrelenting, uncensored satire.
Chatroom pervert ...perhaps too close to the bone

A negative is the technical quality of the dvd and it is not all that easy to scroll through the episodes when loaded on a PC. The extras don't amount to much either. The content though is tremendous. This is the real “little Britain”, keep this away from young children, even though it’s a 15 certificate I think no one under 18 should really see it (well..maybe that’s too extreme). I even put a blanket over my parrots cage when viewing..lol Despair, agony, torment, desolation, misery.....FANTASTIC!!! The humour is dark and dirty, you feel naughty cracking a wry smile at the most depraved moments.....but you just can't help yourself, the laughter will burst out at the most inopportune moments.....the dark humour inside will out itself!!!
Geoff practicing to become a Cottager

The Chatroom Pervert is almost TOO repellant to watch, Divorced Dad's attempts to connect with his son are genuinely depressing and so very sad, Geoff the First-Time Cottager (google it) is desperate and cringe-worthy, Ivan Dobsky, the Meat-Safe Murderer is sinister, The Cyclists is excellent.
Argggg...I actually know people like this
