I don’t usually take interest in these celebrities tit for tats but clips of the defamation case brought by the actor Johnny Depp against his ex-wife the actress Amber Heard has been popping up on my twitter feed and I have been watching them with interest.
Domestic abuse accusations are something which should be taken very serious but it’s also something which over the past few years has been getting weaponised by bitter woman in order to demonise men, divorce cases are the usual reason but so are child contact cases where it can be used in justification to stop a father having contact with his child.
This last example false allegations against men (fathers) is particularly effective as due to a child being involved the normal tenet of law “innocent until proven guilty” is flipped in its arse to “guilty until proven innocent” and the burden of proof lays with the (often falsely) accused then the family court can be a very lengthy and expensive process to fight against a child alienator who uses this strategy and expenses are often not rewarded to the successful party as in law (at least in Scots Law) it’s naively thought that both parents have the best interests of the child at heart!
Luckily no children are involved in Depp vrs Heard so perhaps just a bitter woman wanting some publicity (calling herself the voice of domestic victims as if a saint) but of course, to simply make this conclusion would be as bad as the opposite which has seemed to be more in vogue these days where is man is always guilty.
Is Amber Heard guilty of weaponising domestic abuse making false claims against Johnny Depp? Well she is not coming across as the most saintly honest of people so who know? Some of her lies are already been on display for all to see when she took the stand and was cross examined but the jury is still out deliberating as I write this. If she is telling lies then, like child alienators and other bitter twisted women, she is the scum of the earth and deserves every bit of bad press that will surely come her way as such people make it more difficult for the genuine voice of the victims of domestic abuse and rape to be heard and believed.
I am awaiting the findings of the jury with interest. Amber Heard is certainly not going to come out of this smelling of roses but will it represents the end of #MeToo and the beginning of #MenToo (the acknowledgement of abuse of men suffered at the hands of women)? I don’t know but perhaps when the “gentler” sex shout out “domestic violence” the militia won’t start tying the hangman’s knot until all facts have been heard…woman violence against men has always been there, it always will be but not always given the same acknowledgment.
